Today’s Readings: Jeremiah 29:1-31:1; Acts 5:12-42

Peter and the other apostles couldn’t obey the chief priest and the religious council. They had to tell what Jesus did. It was such a miraculous thing that happened to them, they could not contain it. The message must be shared. The life changing experience transformed them so completely they could not contain it. When they showed up in the temple again preaching and teaching that Jesus was alive. They found themselves arrested and in jail.

The New Testament reading for today tells of the miraculous escape and their continued preaching. It recounts the call before the Sanhedrin, their beating, and another warning not to preach. But there is one prophetic note in the passage that cannot be overlooked.
